About Me

I'm Jo and I believe we are all powerful, magical & worthy
of what we desire.

And I know you may have forgotten the truth. You may have learnt to dim your light & make yourself small. Perhaps self-criticism has become a way of life, keeping your self-worth low and options limited.

It doesn't have to be this way.

Really.

You can start making changes right now.

My mission is to help as many people as possible fall in love with themselves, and their lives.
MY STORY
For decades I spent time chasing things: validation, the 'right' career, appearance, relationship: so I could feel enough.
I cared a lot more about what other people thought about me than how I felt about myself.
I had anxiety, an eating disorder and lived with depression that became so severe at one point I couldn't see my life going on.
In recovery I realised how fierce my inner critic had become; it had me believing nothing I did would ever be good enough.

I decided I deserved something different.

I started doing the things that made me happy.
I stopped behaving like the sub-character in someone else's story and became the heroine of my own.
WRITING THE PATH
Part of what happened next was this: I supported myself.

From a very young age, I had written in diaries, often about how much I hated myself. I repeated horrible things, insults I'd never say to anyone else, and it became what I took as truth.

I realised that if I could make myself feel terrible (hello inner critic on fire) it could also work the other way. I could use writing as a space of self-support, honesty and kindness. It changed my life.

At the same time, I saw how many incredible women in my life needed it too.

I established Write to Thrive® in 2019, because I am passionate about spreading the magic of writing for you in an uplifting, self-connected way.

I weave the self-compassion
that started my journey into my signature workshops, courses
and training.
Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.
- Anais Nin
Perhaps one of my favourite things is talking about what's possible.
Through my entrepreneurial beginnings I worked as an English Teacher after making a career change from PR.

I used to 'coach' my friends at lunchtimes without knowing it. As much as I adored working with young people, I found myself disillusioned by the system and it drained my creative work.

I asked for a year's career break, rented out my flat and moved home to build my business - and write my second novel.

The moment I left I knew I didn't want to go back.

I chose myself.

Even if they aren't 'easy' we always have choice.
I'm here to help you get clear on the beliefs holding you back and take radical responsibility for the choices you're making.
Love over fear
So often we make decisions out of fear: fear of missing out, fear of not being enough; fear that if we are truly ourselves we won't be liked/accepted/loved.

We become versions of a person we think other people want.

None of that feels good, because it's not who we are.

After completing my Transformational Coaching Training I completed toward a Master Coach certification with Elementum Coaching Institute.

This means I'm trauma-informed and use modalities including inner child, internal family systems and somatics in my coaching.

I'm here to help you be more you.

To make loving choices.

To stop living from a place of lack and unfair expectations.

To show up powerfully for the life you want.
